The only thing I don’t like about #FL – these guys. Is that an insect or a trilobite? People say they’re harmless but can anything called a toe-biter really be harmless? I am not so sure. An iguana lazes on the pedestal of the bronze Barefoot Mailman Statue currently located in #hillsborobeach #browardcounty #florida #fl memorialized the 11 ‘barefoot mailmen’ who carried mail between #palmbeach and #miami before the two were connected by roads. The statue in Hillsboro Beach comemorates James “Ed” Hamilton who lost his life on the route suspected to have been eaten by alligators trying to cross Hillsboro Inlet. This #gophertortoise just giving me that suspicious look from his burrow. #tortoise can live a long time, this one can live until 40-60 years in the wild. This yellow-bellied slider is buttoned up in the middle of the road! Hope he makes it back to the pond. Judging from the moss growing on the back maybe he is trying to dry out in the sun. Actually while this #turtle is native and very common in the southeast, it is not native to south #fl only being introduced to the region through pet releases. Gou Lou Cheong Chinese BBQ, what I would call a culturally authentic Chinese restaurant. I have yet to see a place like this outside of Chinatown in #nyc but here we are just off 441/SR7 in #lauderdalelakes in #beautifulfla in the middle of #browardcounty enjoying some of the finest #chinesefood I have ever had. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it’s probably this Muscovy duck! The #florida #muscovyduck (Carina moschata) is actually an invasive species.
